Day 22-ish: Au Revoir Utah!

We enjoyed a delightful week in SLC. Here is the top 10- er, uh, top 13 list (These are really in no particular order):

13. There was a windy morning that we flew our kite. It was so low key and chill and just what every vacation needs.

12. We got to visit my Great Uncle Jim’s where I was reunited with some of my favorite Davidsons!  Steve and Sheree, Trisa and Doug, Jim and Nelda this means you! Jon was captivated by Doug’s tales of being an undercover cop and we would have played Ghosts in the dark with all of the 2nd cousins running around till 1 AM if they did not have a bed time.

11.. Went to Pitch Perfect with Jaqueline, Elaina and Trevor. Lesbi-honest- that move was HILARIOUS! I spaced taking pictures for our hang-outs... but for those of you who like a visual (like me!), below is beautiful Jacqueline and our niece Naomi, and a pic of Trevor and Elaina fighting crime shortly after we left... (They are the hot couple on the right)

10. Zach and Katrina made us a fantastic Mexican feast and we went to Taken 2. Movie sucked- company was AWESOME.

 9. Zach installed a new stereo for us, we used to have an OLD CD player in the glove box that did not have an AUX output… he even went to the effort of customizing our dash to fit the new system!!

8. We had a paranormal activity marathon with Jacqueline, Elaina and Trevor. Terrifying- but totally got us in the Halloween spirit! Good thing I don’t sleep alone anymore.

7. Farewell dinner at The Pie with Jon’s besties. We miss you Zach, Dianna, Danger, Jen, David Cook(ie) and Shane! You made our stay in SLC amazing on so many levels.

6. Jon got to skateboard about every morning. I took some video of him and his friend Ben Campbell.. I'll upload it if I'm ever around wi-fi for longer than a 30 min window :-)

5. I got to go maternity bra shopping with my sis.—also we had an impromptu family lunch made by the one and only Denece Zavoral. It was fun to see my mommy, sometimes I forget how much I miss her.

4. I got to visit with my childhood best friend Natalie Allgood and her hubby.  You know those friends who you don’t see in years but you pick up right where you left off?? Yeah, she is one of those rare amazing people and I am SO happy to have her in my life!!  PS she just had surgery-- but still fit me in and suggested the picture. Like I said- she ROCKS!
Photo note: Natalie was not really ghostly white... I had to lighten the pic, and it made her quite angelic :-)

3.  We got Jacqueline’s internet hooked up… no small feat! It was our payment to Jacqueline for letting us stay at her place for 2 weeks.  Her bed and breakfast gets 5 stars, and she gets sister of the year award.

2. We stayed at Jon Davidson’s house the night before we left- it was a stay full of talking, laughter and delicious pancakes…  Thanks Chase!

1. We got to see the Babies!! They are adorable angels one hour after leaving Orem, I was BEGGING Jon to turn back so we could hold them again!!

I took this pic while holding them... yep, I'm a super skilled auntie and can't wait to babysit!

Day 13: Open Mic

Jon played at an open mic at Mo’s neighborhood Grill in downtown SLC.  He and his buddies used to go there every Tuesday night when he lived here, and it was a fun memory.  There was NOBODY there last night, but it was fun non-the-less.  Jon sounded great and his friends and family came to listen.

And for those of you who have not seen Jon play, you can see him here:

How did I bag such a talented hottie???

Day 12: First Anniversary

We got back to Jacqueline’s place on the morning of our 1st wedding anniversary and hastily panned an adventure to celebrate our first year of bondage…  by bondage, I mean marital bliss J  We found one of those cheesy awesome themed hotels and chose the Hawaii room.  It reminded us of our honeymoon and included a waterfall cascading into a jetted tub and our bed was under a hut canopy thing.  We got dressed in our finest and headed over to the Joseph Smith Memorial building to The Roof to enjoy a gourmet buffet and view of the SLC Temple.  We reminisced about our first year of marriage while we gorging ourselves silly.  JH + MZ = Forever.

Day 10ish Moab baby!

Holy Smokes!  I can’t  believe it has been a week since I have posted. When we got to SLC I came down with a wicked awful cold.  It was a bad sore throat, accompanied by a feeling akin to being hit by a bus.  It whipped me out for 2 days straight.  No internet access at Jon’s sisters place… So I was reduced to watching movies and sleeping (which is really how it should be :-). This gave Jon the opportunity to skate with his buddies for endless hours for the first few days we were here.  He did a really good job of checking in and taking care of me though.
Nothing could keep me from going to Moab for the weekend. I went with the best case expectation of having enough energy to at least look out the window as we drove through the park. The BEST case scenario happened… I started the feel better on day 1 regained enough energy while we were there to hike with the group and got to see the arches in all of their glory! Below are some pictures of our escapades in the red sand:
