The trip from Seattle to Boise was LONG but Bluebell pulled
through like a champ!
It was the longest
ride she has ever been on, and we were a bit apprehensive about how she would
do.
There are lots of mountain passes
between Seattle and Boise. For a car newer than 1990 this does not present a
major obstacle… but for a 1978 bus with an air cooled engine, this means
monitoring how hot the motor is getting and slowing down to 35mph if necessary
up the big hills.
Um yeah, the 7 hour
drive turned into 11 hours and a late arrival to our first stop at the Sharp
home in Boise. We got there around midnight and delightfully chatted until the
wee hours of the morning.
We had SUCH a
great stay with them!
The Sharps are good
family friends of my family’s who moved to Boise about 5 years ago.
It was fun to catch up and they made us feel
at home and fed us great.
The highlight
of our stay was getting to see their new business: A recycled clothing store
called Epic Exchange.
It has an Anthropology/Urban
Outfitters feel and is super awesome.
Again, I forgot to take a picture of us in the store, so I stole this
one from their Facebook Page.
You should
visit and sell some clothes there if you live in Boise. Seriously adorable store, plus cute clothes at a great price!!
On our way out we found Boise State and ate the lunch Dionne
packed us in front of a river on the Boise State campus. It was beautiful and sunny and we got
a peek of the smurf turf in the stadium. We then took a spin through downtown
and found a skate park where Jon did some tricks and we got the bus situated
just right for the next leg of the Journey.
Boise was beautiful and we loved it there. Thank you
Sharps!! (Especially Nika for giving us her bed!)
